(also screened in Berlin’s Panorama section in 2019) and presented out of competition in last year’s Locarno Film Festival by way of the medium-length movie Best Secret Place, the audacious French duo composed of Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel are gearing up to take the road to the Croisette where they’re set to unveil their new work Eat The Night in the 56th Directors’ Fortnight (unspooling 15-25 May within the 77th Cannes Film Festival).

Written by the two filmmakers, the story revolves around Pablo and his sister Apolline who escape from everyday life by playing Darknoon, a video game which they’ve grown up with. One day, Pablo makes the acquaintance of Night and gets him involved in his drug dealing, creating a distance between himself and Apolline. And as the end of the game draws near, the two boys arouse the anger of a rival gang...

Eat the Night is produced by Juliette Schrameck on behalf of Agat Films & Ex Nihilo and by Mathieu and Thomas Verhaeghe for Atelier de Production, in co-production with Arte France Cinéma. The feature is pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, with its release in French cinemas entrusted to Tandem and international sales steered by mk2 Films.

, screening in competition, Emmanuel Courcol’s The Marching Band, screening in the Cannes Première line-up, Louise Courvoisier’s Holy Cow, showing in the Un Certain Regard section, and Antoine Chevrollier’s Block Pass, appearing in Critics’ Week. Atelier de Production, meanwhile, are also set to grace the Un Certain Regard section by way of Laetitia Dosch’s Dog on Trial.
